About the role


The VMO - GP Obstetrician will be a valued member of the Obstetrics and Gynaecology team and forms part of the maternity service’s medical staffing model.

 

The service provision includes:

 Medical care of patients admitted under the Obstetrics Unit.

 Referral of any patients to Specialist Obstetric and Gynaecology (O&G) for either opinion or provision of ongoing care.

 Co-management of obstetric patients admitted in Albury Wodonga Health (AWH).  Providing supervision, support and teaching to GP Obstetrics Registrar.

 Supervision, education or working with medical, nursing and allied health staff at AWH.

We are actively seeking candidates who meet the following requirements to apply for this exceptional opportunity.

Provide timely, cost-efficient and effective Obstetrics services to patients admitted to AWH, with full working knowledge of all the associated clinical issues.
 Participate and attend rounds, reviews, assessments, or handover sessions punctually, and in accordance with standard practices adopted by Maternity Services.
 Initiate, implement and monitor management of patients, incorporating the appropriate testing and investigation.
 Facilitate timely admission and discharge of all patients in accordance with hospital policy.
 Participation in prescribed roster and on-call responsibilities.
 Ensure high-risk patients are referred to the Specialist O&G, in accordance with current policy, protocols, or best practices in place.
 Ensure appropriate documentation and entries as per prevailing standard practice.
