Registered Nurse / Registered Midwife Refresher Program
Albury Wodonga Health is pleased to offer the Registered Nurse / Registered Midwife Refresher Program. This program is designed to support registered nurses and midwives who have had a break from working in a hospital setting and are seeking to refresh their clinical skills or upskill for contemporary practice.
The program provides a supported practice pathway through a combination of structured education, clinical teaching, and ward-based learning. Participants will undertake 8–10 weeks of supervised clinical placement in a hospital setting.
Please note:
Participants are not paid while undertaking clinical placement. However, eligible participants will receive a $10,000 scholarship to help offset potential loss of income during the 8–10 week training period and to assist with out-of-pocket expenses such as travel costs.
Eligibility Criteria (Program and Scholarship)
To be eligible for this program and associated scholarship, applicants must:
- Not have previously received a departmental scholarship to complete a nursing or midwifery refresher program
- Agree to complete the course and, upon completion, seek employment within the Victorian public health sector in the targeted clinical area for which the scholarship is awarded
- Not be currently employed or working in the health service while undertaking the refresher training (i.e. you must not be earning a salary during the training period) OR
- You’re moving into a different area of clinical practice within a health service where you are employed; in this circumstance, participation is expected to occur as unpaid leave
