Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) has an exciting opportunity for a Obstetrician & Gynaecologist to join our Level 5 maternity service. This role offers the chance to practise comprehensive obstetrics and gynaecology within a busy regional referral centre, supported by specialist colleagues including paediatrics, anaesthetics, ICU, and surgical services. The successful applicant will contribute to a collaborative team delivering high-quality maternity and women’s health care to a diverse regional and rural population. AWH is the first cross border public health service to exist in Australia, operating under agreement between NSW and VIC governments to provide the largest regional health care service between Sydney and Melbourne. A 500+ million redevelopment is underway which will replace and expand our current maternity service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal care within a Level 5 capability framework
  • Manage obstetric emergencies, including operative deliveries
  • Perform elective and emergency gynaecological procedures
  • Participate in the VMO on-call roster
  • Conduct outpatient gynaecology and antenatal clinics
  • Work collaboratively with midwives, GP obstetricians, anaesthetists, paediatricians, and allied health teams
  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement activities
  • Support education and supervision of junior medical staff

Our Level 5 Maternity service provides:

  • Care for low- and high-risk pregnancies (excluding the most complex tertiary-level cases)
  • 24/7 obstetric, anaesthetic, paediatric, and theatre support
  • Special Care Nursery
  • Comprehensive antenatal, birthing, and postnatal services
  • Gynaecology inpatient services and off site outpatient services
  • Emergency obstetric and gynaecological surgery
