The role of the Clinical Nurse Educator is to provide professional practice and work-place clinical education to all nursing staff employed in the Operating Theatre, major components of the position include;
- Supporting the Nurse Unit Manager in the development and maintenance of care standards by providing strong leadership with an education focus Including
- Facilitating the transition of new graduates, undergraduate and other nursing staff to the clinical environment by supporting action learning in the clinical setting, including transition to specialty practice (TSP) staff
- Develop and facilitate education for staff participating in Graduate Certificate studies, including the liaison with external education providers
- Assisting staff to achieve mandatory training requirements and enhancing clinical skills
- Developing and assessing clinical nursing competencies for staff when required
- Assist in the development of policies, procedures and learning packages relating to nursing practice
Candidates meeting the following criteria are encouraged to apply:
Current registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse
Vocational Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is highly desirable (or willingness to work towards)
Demonstrated clinical education skills with strong interpersonal and communication skills
Demonstrated ability to work within a team structure in a multidisciplinary environment.
Demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of Quality improvement with the ability to develop and implement initiatives of continuous quality improve
Tertiary postgraduate qualification in Nursing Education (or willingness to work towards) (Desirable)
