AWH Mental Health and Wellbeing Service are seeking a passionate and experienced mental health nurse to team as a service wide Clozapine Coordinator This is a unique opportunity to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to people in our clozapine monitoring program.

We are actively seeking candidates to fulfil the functions of this role which include:

  • Responsibilty for the Clozapine program including the Clozapine Shared Care component. The position
  • Ensuring all clinical monitoring is carried out in the appropriate time frames,
  • Training and support for Clozapine prescribing GP’s and provides some
  • Responsibility for overseeing the Physical Health needs of consumers including metabolic monitoring; developing, implementing and evaluating systems that promote and facilitate early identification of physical health issues, comprehensive evidence-based physical health assessment and access to primary health care services and community based healthy lifestyle programs. 
  • Direct service provision to consumers in the Shared Care Program and their carers. 

Essential requirments include but are not linited to :

  • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and approved post graduate qualifications in psychiatric nursing and/or relevant experience
  •  A knowledge of the clinical risks associated with Clozapine Therapy and the associated protocols and monitoring requirements
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and experience, in the provision of comprehensive physical health assessment, metabolic monitoring, planning of therapeutic interventions and evaluation of clinical outcomes
  •  Ability to work with consumers, family and carers from a range of cultural backgrounds, and to provide gender sensitive services
