An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated General Surgeon to join the Surgical & Perioperative Services Division.

The successful applicant will provide comprehensive elective and emergency General Surgery services, including trauma management, while contributing to the ongoing delivery of high-quality patient care. The role involves the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of patients requiring General Surgical care, as well as providing specialist surgical support to the Emergency Department.

The successful applicant will participate in the Acute Surgical Unit (ASU) on-call roster, providing timely assessment, management, and treatment of emergency surgical presentations, while contributing to the delivery of safe, high-quality surgical care across the service.

Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to clinical excellence, service development, quality improvement initiatives, and the delivery of patient-centred care across the region.

Requirements

To be considered for this position, you will possess:

  • A primary medical qualification that permits registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) in General Surgery, or equivalent specialist qualifications recognised by RACS, or eligibility for Specialist Area of Need registration through AHPRA.

  • Significant experience in contemporary General Surgical practice.

  • Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to clinical governance, quality improvement, and peer review processes.

  • A commitment to continuing professional development and medical education relevant to General Surgery.

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
