Albury Wodonga Health (AWH) is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to join our Executive Leadership Team as the inaugural Director, Strategy & Governance.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this newly created executive leadership role will play a pivotal part in shaping AWH's future direction, strengthening governance and accountability frameworks, and driving organisational performance, transformation and sustainable growth.

This is a unique opportunity for a highly capable leader to influence enterprise-wide decision-making and work closely with the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team to deliver AWH's strategic priorities and vision for healthcare across our region.

 

About the Role

As Director, Strategy & Governance, you will lead AWH's strategic planning, governance, organisational performance, risk, compliance and corporate planning functions.

You will act as a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board, providing high-level strategic and governance advice while leading initiatives that strengthen organisational performance, accountability and continuous improvement.

The role will also oversee the Board Secretariat function, support Board and Committee governance processes, sponsor key organisational projects and drive transformational programs that position AWH for future success.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation and evaluation of AWH's Strategic Plan and organisational priorities.
  • Provide strategic advice to the CEO, Board and Executive Leadership Team.
  • Lead governance, risk, compliance and organisational accountability frameworks.
  • Oversee Board governance and Board Secretariat functions.
  • Drive organisational performance, planning and reporting frameworks.
  • Lead enterprise-wide transformation, reform and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage strategic partnerships and stakeholder relationships across the health sector and government.
  • Sponsor major strategic projects and organisational initiatives.
  • Build organisational capability in strategy, governance and performance management.

About You

You are an accomplished executive leader with a demonstrated ability to influence strategic outcomes in complex environments.

You will bring:

  • Significant senior leadership experience in strategy, governance, organisational performance, transformation or corporate services.
  • Experience providing trusted advice to Boards, Chief Executives and Executive Leadership Teams.
  • Strong expertise in governance, risk management, compliance and organisational accountability.
  • Proven success leading strategic planning, organisational improvement and change initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Highly developed analytical, communication and decision-making capabilities.
  • A collaborative and values-driven leadership style with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation.

Experience within public healthcare, government or another complex regulated environment will be highly regarded.
