The Emergency Department - Clinical Nurse Educator position serves as an expert resource and mentor, responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating educational programs for nursing staff in the Emergency setting. The role supports clinical competency, professional development, and evidence-based practice among staff. The Emergency Clinical Nurse Educator works cohesively and collaboratively within the Emergency and Critical Care Divisional Education team.
Major components of the position include:
- Bedside clinical support and mentoring of new staff and learners
- Plan and provide in-service training to meet staff continuing professional development needs
- Design, develop, implement and evaluate learning programs in response to learner needs and gap analysis
- Facilitate and perform assessments as a component of divisional education programs, including Introduction Pathway, Transition to Specialty Practice, and Postgraduate Certificate studies
- Contribute to the development and implementation of policy and procedure relevant to the Emergency Department environment
- Coordinate and deliver divisional professional development study days in conjunction with the Emergency and Critical Care Education team
Candidates meeting the following criteria are encouraged to apply:
- Current registration with the Australian Health Professionals Regulation Agency as a Registered Nurse
- Tertiary postgraduate qualification in Emergency or Critical Care Nursing
- Tertiary postgraduate qualification in Nursing Education (or willingness to work towards)
- Vocational Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment is highly desirable (or willingness to work towards)
- Demonstrated advanced clinical knowledge and skill in Emergency Nursing
- Demonstrated commitment to clinical education and clinical support
- Strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to work within a team structure in a multidisciplinary environment.
